Jess Auerbach is Social Science faculty at ALU. She has an undergrad degree in Social Science from the University of Cape Town, a Masters degree in Forced Migration Studies from Oxford University, and a PhD in Anthropology from Stanford. Her research focusses on everyday happiness in Angola, specifically the emerging middle class and practices of consumption, education, aesthetics and celebration both there and across the South Atlantic. She has conducted extensive qualitative research in Angola, Brazil, Mozambique, South Africa, Zambia and elsewhere.
