Author, Columnist, Leadership Coach, Trainer of Teachers – Anis Haffar is committed to preparing a new
generation of teachers and students for national and international leadership.
His columns, Education Matters, appears on Mondays in the Daily Graphic, and a second column,
Human Capital, appears in the Business World magazine. He’s the author of the book “LEADERSHIP:
Reflections on Some Movers, Shakers and Thinkers” which he used to teach Leadership Seminars at
Ashesi University. His second book “MFANTSIPIM: The Makers of a Great School” was launched as a
Fund Raising event for his alma mater at the Kofi Annan ICT Centre of Excellence, Accra. He is working
on his next book titled, “Critical Thinking for Quality Education and Leadership” which is a guide for all
teachers, parents, administrators, and policy makers.
Mr Haffar started off professionally in the U.S. with the Los Angeles Unified School District where, for 10
years, he taught English Language, Literature, and Communication Skills. Additionally, he coordinated
the Gifted And Talented Education (GATE) program.
In Ghana, he has designed and conducted numerous workshops and Teacher Education seminars in
Instructional Strategies for Effective Teaching and Learning in schools across the regions, from Greater
Accra to the Mamprusi District in Northern Ghana.
He serves as the Chief Examiner of the yearly “Write Away Contest” by Citi FM promoting reading and
writing skills among the nation’s youth. He serves as the Advisory Board Chairman, Tema International
School; Board member of AngloGoldAshanti School, Obuasi, and Board Member Academic City College,
Accra.
He is a Senior Lecturer, teaching Critical Thinking and Leadership at Accra College of Medicine, and a
member of the Expert Commission on National Vision and Plan for Tertiary Education in Ghana.
He has appeared on TV Africa, GTV, Metro TV, ETV, TV3, Digital TV, and Joy TV for various discussions
and interviews on Education Reforms. He has been a resource person Citi Fm, Joy Fm, Vibe Fm, Radio
Gold, Sunny Fm, Starr Fm, etc
His numerous presentations include:
1. Standard Chartered Bank Management Staff. Topic: Confidence and Assertiveness for Leadership.
2. Parliamentary Select Committee on Education. Topic: Decentralizing the Curriculum for job creation
for the youth in the various districts.
3. U.S. Department of State / Tech Camp West Africa Mentoring Seminar: Adapt, Empower,
Measure: and to promote networking and collaboration among the youth.
He was awarded the Mfantsipim Brand Icon for Education, presented by Kofi Annan at the Accra
Conference Center, Accra (2014)

He attended Mfantsipim School, Cape Coast, and the California State University, Los Angeles. He did his
graduate work at the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona for a Licensed Certified Teaching
Credential in English.
