Julie Essiam is currently the Group Head of Human Resources for Ecobank Transnational Incorporated, the parent company of the Ecobank Group present in 39 countries.
Prior to joining Ecobank in October 2011, Julie spent 14 years at Citigroup where she held several senior HR roles in the United States and thereafter in Africa. Her most recent appointment was as Director and Head of Talent, Development, and Resourcing for Middle East & Africa covering 22 countries within both Regions, and prior to that the Head of HR for Citigroup’s Africa Division, based in South Africa, and covering 15 countries.

Julie has several years of experience at world class organizations, having started her career in New York with the then Chase Manhattan Bank, now JP Morgan Chase as a Management Associate, where she worked in both middle office and client facing roles before moving to Human Resources. Julie is originally from Ghana, graduated from Carnegie Mellon in the United States, and lived in the US for 18 years before relocating back to Africa in 2002.
